 It's official! The Boston Red Sox - Red Sox Nation - will stay in Lee county in southwest Florida for the next 30 years for Spring training.
The deal was inked Noon on Saturday November 1, 2008 and it calls for a brand new $80 million stadium to be constructed with a target date between December 1, 2011 and December 1, 2012. The stadium will likely be part of a much larger sports complex and it will be built as a replica of Fenway Park complete with the Green Monster. Everyone now wants to know where the new stadium will be. It has not been decided but there agreement calls for it to be south of Daniels Pkwy, east of US 41, and it must stay in Lee county. In case you are wondering, that prescribes a bullseye on Estero, Florida with many thinking that an area close to Germain Arena, home to the Everblades, and Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), to become a potential ground zero. It's decided! The new Boston Red Sox Fenway Park south will be on the Waterman-Pinncle site just north of the Fort Myers International airport (RSW). 
You can see from the map that there are many great communities right around where the stadium will be like Pelican Preserve, The Plantation, and Paseo to name a few with many, many more near by like Miromar Lakes Beach and Golf Resort and Grandezza. Use the "Communities" menu to the left and explore all Lee County developments. For now, the Red Sox Spring training facility remains at the City of Palms park in Fort Myers until the new stadium opens. In case you're wondering.
